Experienced interns (self-starters for small businesses)
Farm Manager/ Director of Falling Water Permaculture Center
We will train apprentices at both Skyhill and Falling Water, as we have done for a number of years.
But in 2015 we are keenly interested in working with experienced interns who are ready to be self-starters in small businesses based at one or both our locations. We will incubate these businesses by providing housing, board, land and some infrastructure in exchange for 15 hours a week of general farm work for us. Entrepreneurs can keep their profits. We are looking for mature folks who seek “a sense of place” outside the city and want to settle in a beautiful rural location.
So, we are ultimately seeking up to four experienced self-starters who wish to begin small, very sustainable, community-oriented businesses, such as natural landscaping, organic composting, farmers markets and/or a CSA, herbal products, mushroom production, bee-keeping services, goat-sheep value-added products, meat and laying chickens, aquaculture, bicycle repair, etc., etc.
A farm manager/director of our permaculture center would also be encouraged to begin a CSA or other business to provide an income. This person or couple would live at Falling Water, enjoying privacy and independence. A permaculture design certificate would be required at hiring or in the near future.
Please submit a resume and cover letter describing all qualifications for sustainably stewarding land and eventually starting a small business to firstname.lastname@example.org
